Comprehensive Synopsis
The story begins with Luis, a Mexican man who receives prophetic dream visions that he paints. One painting is of a woman underwater. Years later in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, wealthy businessman Jerome Sykes and his assistant Stacy steal this painting from Luis after Jerome becomes enthralled by it.
Back in San Francisco, Jerome gifts the painting to his wife Dominica. However, Stacy has exposed Jerome's affair with her as well as their embezzlement scheme. Jerome is arrested while Stacy turns over the money. Dominica decides to divorce Jerome and sell all the art, including Luis' painting which captivates art broker Darlene.
Darlene's sister Elizabeth is paralyzed and an alcoholic. When Darlene gives her Luis' painting, it profoundly impacts Elizabeth who feels it depicts her. Darlene tries tracking down Luis in Mexico. Stacy, feeling guilty, goes with Darlene and introduces her to Luis. Darlene asks Luis to come meet Elizabeth, which he miraculously does by sailing to San Francisco. Luis prays for Elizabeth and she is healed, able to walk again. A transformed Elizabeth returns with Luis to Mexico to help the homeless.
Meanwhile, Jerome escapes authorities in Mexico. After losing everything, he ends up drunk and destitute in Cabo. He assaults Luis, blaming him for cursing his life. However, Luis' compassion along with Elizabeth's tough love ultimately lead Jerome to take responsibility for his mistakes. He calls Dominica and apologizes. Dominica decides to visit Jerome in Mexico with their daughter Hope to see if he has truly changed. In a convergence of events, Dominica and Hope end up flying down in Darlene's jet. Surprisingly, Darlene is also enroute to visit Elizabeth.
In an emotional reunion on the beach, Dominica sees Jerome is a changed man trying to make amends. As everyone looks to the future with new understanding, Luis' simple life of service through his God-given gift of prophecy paintings continues to bless those around him.
